About the project

To connect communities and provide links to the trail/cycling network in Guelph, planning and design for this future active transportation bridge over the Speed River is moving forward.

Two concept-level bridge designs were considered for you to provide comments/feedback on. We have decided to move forward with one of the concepts. Read the engagement summary to find out which one the community wants to see built the most.

Both concepts feature a concrete deck which will create the path for pedestrians and cyclists. A concrete path is durable, provides good traction, and allows for ease of maintenance. The width of the path will be sufficient to allow cyclists to ride across while giving space to pedestrians or individuals using a mobility device, who may wish to pause to enjoy the views from the bridge. In all cases, a steel barrier and handrail will be designed to meet safety accessibility standards, while providing minimal obstruction to the views of the river valley from the bridge.

How to participate

If you need to access any of the processes or materials on this page in an alternate format please contact the project manager.

The survey is closed. Thank you so much for your feedback. It was very helpful. Please review the engagement summary to hear about the results.

  • This is the second phase of your engagement. In the first stage in 2016 we asked if having a bridge was supported by the community and what was important to the community in developing alternatives for the bridge.

Using that feedback we are moving ahead with the bridge design and we now have two concepts to present to you. Have a look at each concept image and tell us what you think of it and then tell us what your favourite is and why.
