The Guelph municipal budget outlines the resources needed to deliver the City’s programs, services, and initiatives to the community—today and into the future. It also sets the pace of how quickly we can provide services, complete strategic priorities and demonstrate success on the Council-approved performance metrics.
Feedback on individual projects, services and initiatives are collected all year long, and the funding required to deliver those initiatives is established in the municipal budget. Some projects get completely funded in one year, while some need to be spread out over several years in order to make our taxation and revenue generation goals more consistent over time. Making those decisions about pace is at the heart of the budget process.
Delivering a two-year operating and capital budget moves the City toward a four-year budget as part of our new multi-year budget planning process. It also built on the success of our award-winning 2021 one city, one budget.
What was your experience with the 2022 and 2023 Budget process?
Whether or not you connected with our budget process this year, we want to hear from you. You may have only been partially aware of the budget, or you may have attended a workshop, watched a live streamed event or perhaps you were involved in another way, your experience is important to us. Your feedback can help us design an even better budget process that includes you and your interests in the municipal budget for 2024 and beyond.
