Consultation has concluded
The City is reviewing the vacant and excess land subclass tax rate discount program. The City currently gives a thirty percent tax rate discount to two hundred twenty nine commercial or industrial properties with vacant or excess land totaling $925,000, which is funded by all other taxpayers. We are considering three options for the future of this discount program. These options are:
keep the current tax rate discounts;
eliminate the discounts in 2020; or
phase out the discounts over two years, starting in 2020.
For more information about the vacant and excess land subclass and discounts, each of the three options, and how to tell if your property is affected please refer to the Vacant and excess land subclass information document in the project Document Library on the right side of this page or click here.
