Making decisions at the City level without public input, is a little like baking a cake without the sugar (or sugar substitute). It can be done, but it is so much better when the right things are in the mix.

We want to get more people involved (and excited to be involved) in decision making at the City. To do that, we need to hear from you.

  • What kinds of involvement interest you (think of anything from filling out a survey to running for council and anything in between)
  • How can we make those opportunities better
  • When should we schedule activities so you can be included
  • And what worries or concerns you may have about sharing your thoughts with city staff or council.

For more background about this project, how we got here or current ways to get involved in decision making at the City, check out the more information tab below

Thanks to everyone who participated in this conversation. The consultation is now closed, but the conversation doesn't have to end there. We are always looking for more ways to engage and involve our community.

Where should we bring engagement and civic participation opportunities out in the community?  What spaces are hidden gems we should know about?

 Think about:

  • Areas of town that are inviting for a variety of communities of people who live in Guelph
  • Community centres, libraries, and schools that neighbors like to visit
  • Busy parks and outdoor spaces
  • halls and facilities available to rent where people may like to gather for meetings, conversations and workshops
  • Stores and businesses who can make space available for information tables
  • Restaurants and cafes where the community gathers already to talk about civic issues
  • Spaces  and places that lend themselves to conversation, listing and creative ideas
  • Areas of the city where we can reach people who don't usually get involved

Start by clicking the (+) symbol on the left hand side of the screen.  then simply pick a pin for an appropriate activity type and place it over the spot in the community you want us to know about. Then tell us about it in the comment field.
