Greg Halonen asked 9 months agoThe City understands that there will be increased traffic on adjacent streets due to the closure of York Rd. As a measure to mitigate speeding, radar speed boards will be installed on Stevenson Street South. The City will monitor the traffic conditions during the closure and make adjustments as necessary. While Stevenson Street South is part of the detour, Stevenson Street North is not part of the posted detour.

Ken Spira asked 9 months agoThe particular hydro pole mentioned will remain in its original position. There are no utility conflicts that would require the pole to be relocated. Detailed design drawings will not be posted on the website. However, if there are any design specific inquiries, please reach out to the project team directly to address any concerns. Contact information can be found at the bottom of the project website (https://guelph.ca/living/construction-projects/york-road-reconstruction/)

Share Oh no not again! Can't you give us more time to get over the last road block on York which seemed to go on forever?! Even when they were done the road last time, crews made a point of continuing to block the road with their trucks when there was plenty of room to get by... just because they could. Why not go fix somewhere else first and come back later. Such a drag. on Facebook Share Oh no not again! Brianna Braveheart asked 9 months agoThe York Road reconstruction program is a very important program to allow for the growth of the City. The project is needed to increase water, wastewater and multimodal transportation (pedestrians, cyclists and motorists) servicing for the future. The project will improve existing and future services for residents and businesses city-wide.

CTrain232 asked 9 months agoProtected bike lanes are not currently part of the proposed and approved design. As part of this project, the on-road bike lanes will transition to multi-use-path on the north and south side of York Rd from Lawrence Ave to Victoria Rd. The City will look further into the use of protected bike lanes in the future.

KingsmillRes asked 9 months agoPedestrian access will be maintained as much as possible throughout construction. Existing sidewalks will remain in place until absolutely necessary for construction activities. However, the roadway section under active construction may not be accessible to pedestrians. Pedestrian will have to walk around the active construction zone. The City recommends using the signalized crossings to safely cross York Rd as construction vehicles and local traffic may still be present on the roadway.

As a business owner I’d like to know if there will there be safe & continued access into the 490 York road business centre from York road?
aimrmt asked 10 months agoThe City understands that the driveway to the business centre at 490 York Rd. supports many businesses. The City will install an additional temporary driveway to the east of the current driveway. The staged plan for construction of this year's work will ensure at least one of the driveways will be accessible throughout construction.
